JAPAN, 30 July 2025 – NTT DATA Japan and its group company Paygent will launch the globally unified merchant payment service brand ADAPTIS in Japan starting 1 September 2025.
As cashless transactions become more widespread and sales models continue to diversify, payment services are no longer limited to simple monetary exchanges. Today, they play a key role in enhancing customer experience and driving business growth. By integrating previously segmented payment services under the ADAPTIS brand, NTT DATA and Paygent aim to support merchants in delivering more seamless, convenient, and scalable payment experiences, for both consumers and employees—across increasingly complex commerce environments.
Background
Driven by technological advancements, cashless payments have rapidly gained popularity. New purchasing formats such as subscriptions and live commerce are becoming the norm. At the same time, there is growing demand for payment infrastructures that are inclusive and accessible across both urban and rural regions, underscoring the role of payments in solving broader societal challenges.
For nearly four decades, NTT DATA has operated the CAFIS® payment platform to support the development of a more efficient, cashless society in Japan. In response to evolving market needs, the NTT DATA Group will now unify its diverse merchant payment services under the ADAPTIS global brand to provide greater clarity and value to merchants.
The CAFIS network will continue to operate as the foundational infrastructure for payments in Japan.

The ADAPTIS brand will officially launch in Japan on 1 September 2025.
